Meet our current staff here at Town & Country Animal Hospital

These include our three federally accredited and compassionate veterinarians

Karen Hale-Young, D.V.M.

In 1981 Karen Hale joined Town & Country Animal Hospital after graduating from Kansas State Veterinary School. She fell in love with Salina and decided to make it her permanent home by buying Town & Country in 1987. Since then, the vet clinic has grown to a three veterinarian practice, with emphasis on compassion and advanced medicine for the patient and education for the owner.
Karen has four lovely daughters, Rhys, Malia, Elle and Tatum, and has continued with her passion of veterinary medicine. She recently participated in HITS in Okala, Florida and won the titles for Champion of Circuit in modified jr.adt. Jumper and Level Zero Jumper.

 Trisha Ostrom, D.V.M.

Dr. Trisha Ostrom was born and raised in Wichita, KS. She attended Kansas State University and graduated from Kansas State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. After two years in small animal veterinary practice, she joined Town & Country Animal Hospital as an associate in 2001. In addition to working at Town  Country, Dr. Ostrom has been a member of the Friends of the Salina Animal Shelter since its formation in 2007 and regularly volunteers her time evaluating dogs for placement on the PetSmart Charities' Rescue Waggin'. She enjoys spending time with her husband Chris and their dogs and cats, as well as reading, gardening and hiking. Dr. Ostrom also enjoys exercising, especially running. She regularly competes in half marathons and completed her first full marathon in June of 2010 with fellow employee, Melissa.

Dr. Andrew Bickett joined the team at Town & Country Animal Hospital
as a new graduate in May 2012. Originally from Illinois, he was on the
search for the perfect job, and wound up in Salina, KS. A lover of all
things exotic animal, most especially reptile medicine, he couldn't
fathom working on just cats and dogs for the rest of his career, and
Town & Country appeared to be the perfect fit. He has amassed quite
the pet collection, and currently shares his home with two dogs, two
cats, a brazilian rainbow boa constrictor, a Water Dragon and a Red Eared Slider Turtle. When not engaged in veterinary medicine, Dr. Bickett enjoys reading, and is
getting ready to build a custom snake tank for his rainbow boa.

Town and Country Animal Hospital is very happy and lucky to have a wonderful, knowledgeable and caring office manager.

Melissa has been working at Town & Country since 1998. It had always been her dream to work at a veterinary clinic and she was overjoyed to get the opportunity. Over the years working at Town & Country she has continued to learn something new every day and in turn has become very knowledgeable. She has two silly and very rambunctious Boston terriers ( Mikki & Wayne) and one demanding cat (Halley). She enjoys crocheting,  needle work, reading, running and pretty much any outdoor activity. She also does some rescue work for animals in need.

Town & Country is fortunate to have three very informative and helpful receptionists that can assist you with all of your pets' needs, including help with patient case histories and animal nutritional and wellness needs.

Monica has been enjoying her work as a receptionist at Town and Country since 2004. The favorite part of her job is communicating with customers and experiencing the love they share for their pets. She shares that love with her  Siberian Husky, a mixed breed dog, a young Rotti, and a few cats.

Manu was born and raised in Germany. She moved to the United States and settled in the central Kansas area in 2002. She has lived in Salina since 2004 and joined Town & Country Animal Hospital in 2007 when the opportunity crossed her way. This fulfilled a lifelong dream as there have always been animals in her life and the desire to work with them grew as she did. Manuela enjoys her home with her husband, their son, her rescue dog and cats.

Crystal grew up in Washington, KS and moved to Salina when she started 6th Grade. She loves Country Music ( especially Luke Bryan), bike riding and spending time with her dogs ( Angel, Braut & Gary ), family and friends. She always had a strong passion for animals and has been told by her dad it is because she watched too many Disney movies!
